Both SUANFC and SUWAFC are under the auspices of Sydney University Sport and Fitness (SUSF) and managed, for the first time in 2010, by a SUSF / SUANFC appointed Director of Aussie Rules.
The Club offers the opportunity to play AFL to both students and community members. SUSF, SUANFC and The University of Sydney offer Scholarships to play AFL in the best football environment outside the Sydney Swans.
We have a very long and auspicious tradition as an amateur football club whose members try to get the best performance out of themselves on the field and at the same time enjoy themselves off it, particularly the enduring friendships we tend to make.
For many years SUANFC has been a club “managed by the members, for the members”. The culture of The Club has been built round this ethos, playing for our mates. While we have branded ourselves as a successful club, The Club is also renowned for it's social environment.
We run a number of marquee event days over the season including, Sponsors Season Launch, Ladies Day, Family Day, our past player’s event; Old Boys Day. Selections and post game awards are held weekly at The Forest Lodge Hotel.
SUANFC is strongly committed to the local community and junior football across Sydney’s metropolitan area. In 2009, SUANFC was supported by Collingwood’s coaching resources, including that of former Sydney Uni premiership coach and Swans fullback Rod Carter, their NSW Talent Manager. The Club has strong links to local junior clubs, Newtown JAFC (www.newtownswans.com.au) and Moore Park Tigers JFC. Newtown offers Auskick through to U/15 sides. Our club also has established relationships with junior clubs Easts JAFC, Willoughby JAFC and Glebe JAFC where we have provided coaching and support to young players.
SUANFC members play, support and let’s face it love Australian Rules Football in the Harbour City.
