Sydney University has one team currently running in the Sydney Women’s AFL competition.
This competition has been running since 2000, with six teams currently in the league.
It’s a great sport for girls to participate in, with training twice a week focused on improving skills and fitness levels. We encourage all girls to commit to both nights of training so as to create a fun and positive team environment.
You don’t have to be a super star to enjoy the game, just grab a pair of footy boots and come on down for a kick and you’ll be sure to be hooked. We’re always looking for new people to join us whether as a player or supporter of some type.
We also have social events, and often combine these events with the boy’s club. The Sydney Womens League (SWAFL) also run social events.
Most games are played on Saturday in the Inner West region, with one or two games in the St George area. There are the occasional Sunday games also.
Pre-season training will be starting in the middle of February on Mondays and Wednesdays at either ‘The Square’ or 'Oval No.2' at Sydney University depending on the night (both grounds are located near the Arena Sports Centre).
