SUANFC provides the opportunity AFL in each of the five divisions of Sydney AFL. As an elite Sydney University club our players have access to one Sydney’s best AFL program, arguably our facilities are second only the Sydney Swans.

Our Club welcomes new players of all levels of experience, students and community members are invited to join SUANFC. We also welcome non-playing members interested in assisting round the club. As a club run to a great extent by playing members, we welcome and require volunteers passionate about AFL.
The Club is also a “home away from home” for many interstate players coming to Sydney to study or for work. The Club welcomes enquiries from interstate players and those new to Sydney.

All new players - you can download this form, print it out, fill it in, bring it into training and give it to Jason Napiorkowski (Head of Football Operations). Q. Do I need to be a student of Sydney University to play football for the Club? A. No. Anyone can play for Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC).
Q. How many teams does SUANFC have? A. 5 open age sides and 1 U/18 side in 2010.

Q. What standard are the teams? A. SUANFC challenges for and expects to compete for the premiership in every division. Teams cater to all standards ranging from the elite in Premier Division to those new to the game. In 2009, The Reds, playing in Division Four & U/18 Colts finished the regular season as Minor Premiers, both going on to be premiers.
Q. When does the season start? A. In 2010, preseason begins in early January. The home and away season begins in April and runs through to September. Competition for spots in each of the grades is very tough so if you want to join and the Club, it is best to do so from start of the preseason.
Q. How do I join? A. Registration takes place in March at the University. Here you will receive your SUANFC and SUSF Membership as well as playing gear for the year.
Q. Are there trial games? A. SUANFC holds pre season practice matches during February against other NSW Clubs. These serve as opportunities to showcase yourself to the coaches for the season ahead. It is recommended that you take part in pre season training to give yourself the right start to the season.
Q. When and where are the trials held? A. In February at various grounds. All information will be displayed on the homepage of the website.

Preseason trainings will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays at Paul's Oval, Sydney University at from January 11th, 2010 starting 6pm.

Q. What are my chances of making a team? A. The Club tries to accommodate as many people who want to play football as possible. Selections for sides are made on a week to week basis from the entire squad of players. However, there is no guarantee that everyone will be selected in a team each week. SUANFC will do its best to ensure all players are given the opportunity of playing.
Q. Where do the teams play? A. Home Games are played at the University (at Oval #1 or St Pauls Oval). Away games are played all over Sydney from St George to Manly to Campbelltown.
Q. Where do the teams train? A. During the season, the Open Age Teams train Mondays & Wednesdays at Oval #1 and St Johns Oval. The U18s train on Tuesdays & Thursdays at Alan Davidson Oval, Marrickville. See here for locations.
Q. How much does it cost to play? A. The fees for 2009 are set out here. Fees for 2010 have not yet been determined.
Q. Should I join Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness? A. SUANFC is an affiliate of SUSF. In order to play for the Club, you MUST be a member of SUSF. Annual Membership with SUSF is factored into your Club Fees and will cover your insurance as well as entitle you to member benefits with SUSF.
