Club Legends -
After the successful launch of the SUANFC Division of the SUSF Sports Foundation in 2009, Old Boys Day returns this year on Saturday August 14th in its traditional one day format.
As we can all attest, Old Boys Day is a stellar occasion and we again expect a large attendance of past players to witness some rousing on and off-field performances with the opportunity for the younger generations of the club to appreciate all the stories and experiences of yesteryear as well as see old mates catch up. Football is all about the one percenters and the magnificent support of our raucous Old Boys has contributed to the club’s stirring wins over UNSW/Eastern Suburbs in recent years.
The day this year showcases the Sydney AFL's "divisionalisation" with three clubs, Campbelltown, UTS and Camden set for one of the Sydney AFL's toughest tasks, playing in front of the Old Boys of SUANFC. A smorgasbord of football as Oval No.1 and St Pauls Oval play host to seven games of footy.
As with previous years, we will feature the Old Boys Game - this year starting at the conclusion of the Colts match (3.30pm). Our young lads, promoted to Premier Cup U/18s, will share the change rooms with past legends as the likes of Carter, Driscoll, Edwards, Eurell, Inglis, Macbeth, Macoustra, McLennan, Mitchell, O'Connor, Stewart & Willoughby as they prepare themselves for the past players game.
Post game, the first drink is on us as we move to the Grandstand for a meal and casual function with club news, game day player auctions and a few give-aways. We will cordon off the balcony in the Grandstand for the function so you are crowd side for the main game which begins at 6.10pm. Tickets for the meal and function will be a very affordable $20.00.
Representatives from boutique brewers, James Squire, will provide our past players and those attending the Old Boys Day Grandstand function a complementary beer tasting. The tasting will be hosted by one of the iconic brewer's master "Craft Brewers", and our very own Damian Trounce, also a Squire's brewer. Squire's and other Lion Nathan brews will be on tap through the afternoon.
Post the seniors match it will be back to the Flodge for team awards, boat races and more! We have also confirmed past player Jason Anderson (DJ ANDO) will spin a few tunes at the Flodge straight after the Seniors match. Jason, who played in the 90s has guaranteed "Up there Cazaly" will feature. I am sure this classic will stir a watershed of footballing memories, ahhh the glory days!
We will need your RVSP for both the game and the function so please do so early.
