Q. Do I need to be a student of Sydney University to play football for the Club?
A. No. Anyone can play for Sydney University Australian National Football Club (SUANFC).

Q. How many teams does SUANFC have?
A. 5 open age sides and 1 U18 Colts side in 2012.

Seniors: North Eastern AFL – State League
Reserves: Sydney AFL Premier Division
U18 Colts: Sydney AFL U18s Division 1
3rd Grade Blues: Sydney AFL Division 2
4th Grade Reds: Sydney AFL Division 3
5th Grade Golds: Sydney AFL Division 5

Q. Does the Sydney AFL Pathway Policy allow me to play with the SUANFC U18 Colts?
A. If you are a junior player at Glebe JAFC, Moore Park JAFC and Newtown JAFC the pathway allows you to come to Sydney University. If you are from another junior club in Sydney, you may apply through AFL Sydney to go to a senior club outside the pathway. If you are coming from other areas of NSW or interstate, you will need a clearance from your previous junior club. Q. What standard are the teams?
A. SUANFC aims to develop players at all levels of the game. Are expectation is that this development will allow the club to challenge for the premiership in every division. Teams cater to all standards ranging from the elite in our North Eastern AFL, Premier Division and SUANFC U18 Colts sides to those players new to the game. In 2011, all six grades played in finals.

Q. When does the season start?
A. Preseason begins in mid November and runs through to Christmas. Stay tuned to the website, Facebook and Twitter sites for details. It then recommences early January. The home and away season begins in April and runs through to September. Competition for spots in each of the grades is very tough so if you want to join the Club, it is best to do so from start of the preseason.

Q. How do I join?
A. Registration takes place in March at the University. Here you will receive your SUANFC and SUSF Membership as well as playing gear for the year.

Q. Are there trial games?
A. SUANFC holds pre season practice matches during February and March. These serve as opportunities to showcase yourself to the coaches for the season ahead. It is recommended that you take part in pre season training to give yourself the right start to the season.

Q. When does pre season training start?
A. Please check the home page of the website for details. Preseason trainings will be held on Mondays & Wednesdays at Bat & Ball Oval, Moore Park (see website news for more information),  starting 6:15pm.

Q. What are my chances of making a team?
A. The Club tries to accommodate as many people who want to play football as possible. Selections for sides are made on a week to week basis from the entire squad of players. However, there is no guarantee that everyone will be selected in a team each week.  SUANFC will do its best to ensure all players are given the opportunity of playing.

Q. Where do the teams play?
A. Home Games are played at the University (at Oval No.1 or St Pauls Oval). The NEAFL side will play games in the ACT and locally in Sydney. NEAFL games may also be played in QLD and the NT. Sydney AFL away games are played from the Illawarra, to Campbelltown, to St George and the Baulkham Hills and across to Manly.

Q. Where do the teams train?
A. During the season, the open age teams train Mondays & Wednesdays at Oval #1 and St Johns Oval. The U18s train on Mondays with the Premier Division sides & Thursdays at Alan Davidson Oval, Marrickville.

Q. How much does it cost to play?
A. Please go to the membership section of the website.

Q. Should I join Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness?
A. SUANFC is an affiliate of Sydney University Sport and Fitness (SUSF). In order to play for the Club, you MUST be a member of SUSF. Annual Membership with SUSF is factored into your Club Fees and will cover your insurance as well as entitle you to member benefits with SUSF.
